Founded in January 2013 and officially incorporated in June 2013, Beatfreeks has grown at an incredible pace.
Beatfreeks are an award winning social enterprise firmly rooted in Birmingham with an expanding national reach. They aim to pioneer new ways of engaging, empowering and equipping people and spaces through a blend of arts & media, social action, leadership and enterprise. They like to think of it as Artivism.
They’ve achieved some pretty awesome stuff, from working with BBC 1Xtra on ‘Scratchbeat’ to bring national and local talent together to share a stage (which also saw local artists get national airplay), through to working with a group of young people passionate about mental health over 12 weeks to set up their own official social enterprise ‘Ripple CIC’.
Beatfreeks is a philosophy, a mindset and a reflection of a new generation of creative, freethinking social reformers. We pride ourselves in bringing the creative to the professional, and the professional to the creative. We are values driven; our founding principles guide our work daily:
Co-creation | Risk & Innovation | Change | Integrity | Love
